AUGUST 2014 MANDALA YOGA BALI RETREAT

Mandala Yoga Bali Retreat August 17- 23 2014!  Our 2nd year!
We will again be staying at the beautiful Desa Seni eco Village Resort.  Calling it beautiful is an understatement; I think a better description is magical and serene. The resort is built with recycled, repurposed or sustainable products from local sources.  The guest “rooms” are all individual structures – beautiful old teak wood cottages – deconstructed in java, brought to Bali, refurbished and reconstructed amidst organic gardens and winding stone pathways to create Desa Seni.

The food is amazing. 40% of Desa Seni’s land is dedicated to organic farming.  The vegetables growing alongside the paths from cottage to pool to yoga studio go right to our happy bellies.

Poached Eggs & Spinach
with Roasted Garlic Tomatoes
Fruit Salad
Raw Garden Salad

And then there is the spacious open-air pavilion with flora abundant all around.  The palm fronds, the flowers, the rich fresh tropical smells all creating a peaceful welcoming practice space.  My six foot round Mandala Yoga Mats fill the space perfectly.  We will be practicing a flow class in the morning, which will lead to a full sequence of movement and poses by the end of the week.  And in the late afternoon we will settle into a YIN of releasing and opening.  Your mats will be waiting for you when you arrive and will be yours to then take home.  The classes will be for all levels.

In the dry season of June through September, the winds blow continually from east to west in most of Bali.  So we get the beautiful warm temperatures with out the humidity of other months.  At the end of July there is the Bali Kite Festival. The event is a seasonal religious festival, which is intended to send a message to Hindu Gods to create abundant harvests and crops. Approximately 1121 traditional kites are flown during the three day annual Festival.  But even into August you can look up and still see beautiful large kites flying high.

Unlike most of Muslim-majority Indonesia, about 85 % of Bali’s population adheres to Balinese Hinduism, formed as a combination of existing local beliefs and Hindu influences from mainland Southeast Asia and South Asia.  The Balinese people are kind and giving and their culture is rich and unique. Wherever you go on this beautiful Island you see their unique way of life being expressed in their every day activities.

We will be taking an outing to Tanah Lot, one of our favorite temples to see the sunset and then going out to dinner.  There will also be an afternoon free to explore on your own or perhaps just hang by the salt-water pool and relax.  We will also be offering you one massage and one reflexology session at Desa Seni’s beautiful Spa.

~ We still have Single, Double or Triple accommodations available, If you come with a friend or two you will each receive $100 off when the final payment is due.

~ If your partner or significant other would like to come but not participate in the classes, get in touch with me and we can figure out what that price would be.

~ And if you happen to be lucky enough to be traveling in Bali at that time and will be staying somewhere else, there is also the option for you to come to just the class (no accommodations, meals or massages).
